QUEST Science Education Institute

 

A year-long professional development Institute for district teams designed to support district goals in mediaand technology integration in the secondary science classroom.

Institute Highlights

  • Begin the year with a 2-Day Training Intensive for 6-8 Team members to learn new media skills for the science classroom and create Team Goals and an Implementation Plan
  • Receive follow-up support from QUEST Education to help implement team goals
  • Team members and participating school sites are eligible to attend follow-up workshops throughout the school year
  • End the year with a special event to celebrate completion of goals and share successes
  • Participants may then continue to receive additional support from QUEST Education staff during following school years

HOW TO APPLY - Applications due May 15

Before registering your application on this web page, please have the following information ready (you will probably want to cut and paste into the online form):

  • The location and dates of the desired 2-Day Training Intensive
  • Your basic contact information (you will be entering yourself as the Team Liaison)
  • The names, titles, and email addresses of your District Lead Team Members
  • Answers to the following questions
  • How do the goals of this Institute (media and technology integration in the secondary science classroom) align with your district’s goals and/or strategic plan? (100 words max)
  • Please explain how your  proposed team is the best group of individuals to represent your district in the year-long Institute and to support your colleagues at school sites. (50 words or less)
  • What structures do you already have in place that will support your Team in implementing new QUEST multimedia and technology skills with science teachers at school sites? How does your team plan to share your new knowledge with colleagues? (100 words or less)

Applicants will be notified of their standing by May 22.

 

If accepted, Lead Team Members will be expected to attend the May 30 Kickoff and Orientation Meeting.


Teams accepted to the Institute will need to sign a Letter of Commitment and send it to KQED with a $50 check made payable to KQED to hold a space at the Institute. The $50 deposit will be returned at the Orientation Meeting.

It includes a weekly half-hour television program, weekly radio stories, an innovative Web site, and unique resources for educators.
